Abstract
Experimental data are presented on the dependence of the critical diameter and detonation velocity of cast and liquid porous TNT and TA-15 alumotol (Al/TNT) on charge density. The results of the detonation velocity measurements are compared with calculations. Based on this comparison, it is proposed that the reaction during detonation of alumotol is substantially heterogeneous and this is confirmed by plotting the detonation velocity as a function of density for model mixtures of TNT with various amounts of aluminum and an inert component.
