Summary
We believe the interest shown in the Thiersch operation is justified. It is a useful procedure, used either singly or combined with other technics. To the various modifications of the original procedure we add one which consists of the insertion of a double loop of semiflexible plastic material, the ends of which can be joined by melting and fusing. In spite of the fact that the number of patients operated upon is small and the time elapsed since operation is not long, we find that this is an operation which provides good results and is worth employing more frequently.
