Summary
The paper reports on investigations and impregnation tests with Keruing and Kempas sleepers. The natural durability of both wood species is markedly lower than that of oak heart-wood. Air seasoning for Keruing tates about one year, for Kempas about nine months. For each of both species a treating diagram was developed which ensures sufficient adsorption of creosote and by this the required protection.
