Abstract
Reaction of methyltrans-2,3-epoxyoctadecanoate (I) with phenyl isocyanate in dimethylformamide (DMF) in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3 as catalyst has yielded 3-phenyl-4-pentadecylmethyleneoxazolid-2,5-dione (II) and 4(5)-carbomethoxy-5 (4)-pentadecyl-3-phenyl-cis-2-oxazolidone (III). The products have been characterized with the help of spectral data and microanalyses.
