Prediction of specific optical density for smoke obscuration in an NBS smoke density chamber

Abstract

Values for the specific optical density as calculated from a theory, based on light scattering and coagulation, using measurements of particulate mass concentration are found to be in good agreement with measured values of the specific optical density for alpha cellulose and Douglas fir under smoldering conditions in an NBS Smoke Density Chamber.
