Continent colostomy with the aid of a magnetic closing system: A preliminary report

  • Published:
Diseases of the Colon & Rectum

Conclusion

This study was designed to evaluate the functional results and investigate the indications for the magnetic colostomy closure system. This method is technically easy, but certain details should be taken into consideration. The operation can be performed without increased risk of infection. This new method can provide selected patients with a continent colostomy. Younger, active patients seem to learn and accept this new technique better than elderly persons.
