Summary
The frequency of direct and reverse mutations at several chromosomal loci increased in UV sensitiveuvr502 strains ofE. coli. Both UV sensitivity and mutator (Mut−) phenotype are due to the singleuvr502 mutation. Inuvr +/uvr502 merodiploid the Mut− phenotype is recessive.
