Summary

The reliability of a laboratory test for determining varietal susceptibility to gangrene was assessed in two years. In both years ranking order of control varieties reflected their respective agricultural performances. There were highly significant correlations for varietal scores in tests carried out in the same year and at least for maincrop varieties, in tests carried out in different years. There were, however, significant variety × test interactions.
