Summary

A device for measuring the short-term fluctuations in volume of individual tubers is described. Its accuracy is mostly independent of tuber growth stage, shape and malformations.

The coefficient of variation of volume of a tuber of 40 cm3 was usually well below 0.15% when the tuber was measured four times.
