Summary
An examination of blood samples from72 animals shot or immobilised in the Queen Elizabeth National Park, Western Uganda, has revealed that some species are infected with trypanosomes. An overall infection rate of11 per cent was established from the results of thick blood film examination and mouse inoculation.
A description of the sampling methods is given and the results are summarised.
Résumé
L’examen du sang de 72 animaux, tués ou immobilisés dans le Parc National Queen Elizabeth en Ouganda de l’Ouest, a révélé que quelques espèces sont infectées de trypanosomes. Les résultats de l’examen de gouttes épaisses de sang et de l’inoculation de sang à des souris ont montré un taux général d’infection de 11%.
Une description des méthodes d’échantillonnage est donnée et les résultats sont résumés.

El examen de las muestras sanguíneas de 72 animales derribados ó inmobilizados en el Parque Nacional Reina Isabel, Uganda Occidental, ha revelado que algunas especies estan infectadas con tripanosomas. Se ha establecido un tasa de infección general del 11% despues de haber hecho exámenes de frotices gruesos e inoculación en ratones.
Se da una descripción de los métodos de muestreo y se tabulizan los resultados.
