Abstract

Analysis of the extracellular polysaccharides of some related strains ofRhizobium trifolii indicated the presence of glucose, galactose, glucuronic acid, pyruvate and acetate. Small differences in composition between strains were not related to the ability to nodulate or to the capacity of the symbiotic organisms to fix nitrogen.
