Elution characteristic of sodium nitrite in reversed-phase HPLC with aqueous methanol as the mobile phase

Summary

The elution characteristic of sodium nitrite has been investigated in order to confirm the utility of sodium salts for void-volume measurement in reversed-phase HPLC. The elution time of 50 ppm sodium nitrite solution gives the column void time with water and water-methanol as the eluents, while higher concentration is preferable when using methanol as the eluent.
