Summary

The antitheilerial activity of buparvaquone in crossbred male calves, experimentally infected withTheileria annulata (Izatnagar isolate) has been tested. Animals were treated intramuscularly at the dose rate of 2.5 mg/kg body weight. A single dose of the drug administered during the phase of ascending parasitaemia cured all the infected calves while all the untreated infected control calves died.

Résumé

L'activité antitheileriale de la buparvaquone a été éprouvée chez des veaux males metis infectés expérimentalement avecTheileria annulata (isolat d'Izatnagar). Ces animaux ont été traités par voie intramusculaire à la dose de 2,5 mg/kg de poids vif. Une dose unique du médicament administrée pendant la phase de parasitémie croissante a guéri tous les veaux infectés alors que tous les veaux témoins non traités sont morts.

Resumen

Se probó la actividad antitheilerial de buparvaquone en terneros machos cruzados, infectados experimentalmente conTheileria annulata (aislamiento Izatnagar). Los animales fueron tratados vía intramuscular con una dosis de 2.5 mg/kg de peso corporal. Una dosis sencilla del fármaco, administrada durante la fase de parasitémia ascendente, curó todos los terneros infectados; los controles los cuales no fueron tratados, murieron todos.
