Summary
As is known from the experience in meteoropathology the meteorological factor that acts as loosening for the changes in the state of health of men must be able to penetrate the walls of buildings without being sensibly weakened. Certainly this will not be the fact for all meteorological elements and for all possible frequencies of their oscillations. Accordingly an examination of the penetrability of buildings for these oscillations will be a useful means in searching the meteorotropic factor. The results of such an overall examination carried out in this paper are about the following: Oscillations of pressure may enter normal buildings unchanged if the order of their frequencies is not higher than 1 cycle/sec, while variations of any sort of atmospheric pollution, including chemical compounds, will be weakened if their periods are less than 1 h at least. With the latter variations, changes of phase will take place already if the periods are of the order of a day. Variations of such pollutions must therefore be observed in the same room where physiological tests or observations are made if they shall be reliable in meteoropathological research.
