Summary
All the herds surveyed were relatively unproductive as regards fertility, growth rates, offtake and milk production with the exception of one herd which received a significant amount of dry season supplementation. It is suggested that the provision of supplementary feeds would be a simple and relatively inexpensive method of improving traditional management.

Tous les troupeaux observés ont été relativement improductifs quant à la fertilité aux taux de croissance, la distribution et la production laitière à l'exception du seul troupeau qui a reçu une supplémentation convenable durant la saison sèche. Il est suggèré que la constitution de réserves alimentaires serait une méthode simple et relativement peu coûteuse d'amélioration de l'élevage traditionnel.
Resumer
Todos los hatos estudiados fueron relativamente improductivos en relación con la fertilidad, rata de crecimiento y producción de leche, con excepción del hato que recibió suficiente supplementación durante la época seca. Se sugiere que la suplementación del ganado durante la época seca, podría ser un método simple y barato para aumentar la productividad bajo manejo tradicional.
