Atom relaxing under a counting observation

  • Published:
Open Systems & Information Dynamics

Abstract

A quantum-stochastic description of a continuous photon counting measurement in the “atom plus a boson field” model has been developed. The statistics of photon counts has been found. The posterior stochastic Schrödinger equation for the atom under a continuous counting observation has been solved. It has been proved that the atom relaxes without mixing to its ground state.
