Soybean growth on fly ashamended strip mine spoils

Summary

The use of fly ash as an amendment for strip mine soils has been studied under field conditions. Spoils ranging in pH from 4.0–6.0 were tested. The addition of fly ash in all cases was effective as an acid soil neutralizer and substantially enhanced the growth and development of all experimental plants. The parameters used in growth analyses were plant height, dry weight, root/shoot ratios, nodulation, pod production, and nitrogen fixing capacity for legumes. re]19761004
