Seasonal nutrient variation in trembling aspen

Summary

Variation in concentrations of N, K, Mg, and Ca in vegetative-buds, leaves, twigs, and male catkins of trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides Michx.), determined throughout a growing season in central Minnesota, reflected the different physiological roles of the nutrients. Practical implications are discussed.
