Summary

The membrane ofChlorochytridion tuberculatum (nov. gen., nov. spec.) W. Vischer is analyzed by X-ray spectrography. Cellulose, quartz, and calcite are detected. It is remarkable that quartz, which does not crystallize under physiological conditionsin vitro, is formed in the cell wall ofChlorochytridion.
