Résumé

Des expérimentations comparatives ont été faites concernant le rendement des graines deScilla sibirica commune et de la variété plus grande, née d'elle,Spring Beauty.

Chez Spring Beauty le nombre des chromosomes, montant pour laScilla sibirica commune à 12 (2 × 6) s'est accru jusqu'à 18 (3 × 6). Par conséquent Spring Beauty se caractérise à un haut degré par stérilité personnelle.

Les bulbes ont atteint une telle dimension, qu'elles sont devenues bonnes à la multiplication végétative artificielle (couper, creuser).

Scilla sibirica commune se multiplie par des graines. En la plantant alternativement avec Spring Beauty, on peut favoriser la pollinisation réciproque et ainsi récolter des graines de Spring Beauty.
