Parallel formation of hydrazine and ammonia in dinitrogen reduction in the system Na(Hg)−Ti(OH)3−Mo(III)

Abstract

Dinitrogen reduction by an alkali metal amalgam in methanol at 20°C in the presence of Ti(OH)3 containing a Mo(III) compound leads to the parallel formation of hydrazine and ammonia. From the kinetic data and the15N2H4 tracer results it follows that NH3 is formed mainly without the intermediate formation of free N2H4. It is suggested that two kinds of active centers are present in the system, one reducing N2 to N2H4 and another forming NH3 directly from coordinated N2.

Abstract

Досстановление азота амальгамой щелочного металла при комнатной температуре в метаноле под действием Ti(OH)3, содержащей Mo(III), приводит к образованию гидразина и аммиака, причем из кинетических данных и результатов, полученных с меченым гидразином следует, что свободный гидразин не является промежуточным продуктом при образовании аммиака. Сделан вывод о существовании двух центров, на одном из которых N2 восстанавливается до N2H4, а на другом непосредственно до аммиака.
