Abstract
The magnetic and spectroscopic properties of some cobalt catalysts supported on Mg2+ and Zn2+ modified alumina have been studied. The results show the relevance of both the modifying divalent metal and the molibdate surface layer for the dispersity of Co2+ ions. The divalent metal decreases bulk-diffusion of cobalt ions, and the molybdate layer provides extra sites for accomodation of the cobalt ions.
