Les familles vulnérables

Résumé

La santé de la famille est actuellement une préoccupation majeure tant des travailleurs sanitaires et sociaux que des pouvoirs publics. Malheureusement, de nombreux facteurs de risque, souvent dus aux conditions de la vie moderne, menacent la santé et l'équilibre de certaines familles. Après avoir passé en revue les principaux critères — sociaux et médicaux — de vulnérabilité familiale, les auteurs discutent des moyens préventifs disponibles pour y faire échec. II semble acquis que cette action médicosociale concertée doit, de plus en plus, être œuvre d'équipe: le rôle de l'assistante sociale et de l'infirmière de santé publique y est capital. Mais il faut sans doute pousser plus loin la réflexion: la véritable prévention passe par la réforme de la société, pour mieux l'adapter aux besoins fondamentaux de l'individu et du groupe familial.

Summary

Family health is nowadays a major concern of health team, social workers and of policy makers as well. Unfortunately, various risk-factors, often associated with ill-conditions of modern life, are threatening the health and stability of some families. After a review of the main criteria-both social and medical-of family vulnerability, the authors consider the preventive means available to neutralize them. It seems quite clear that this new concerted medico-social approach is increasingly a matter for team-work. The public health nurse or social worker has a vital part to play in this inter-disciplinary team. However, it must be kept in mind that, very often, families are vulnerable because the structures of society are profoundly maladjusted: true prevention proceeds by way of social reform, in order to meet the basic needs of the individual and of the family group as well.

Zusammenfassung

Die Gesundheit der Familie beschäftigt zurzeit sowohl den, der sich mit Fragen der Gesundheit befasst, als auch den Sozialarbeiter und den Politiker. Leider bedrohen — oft aufgrund der modernen Lebensbedingungen — zahlreiche Risikofaktoren die Gesundheit und das Gleichgewicht gewisser Familien. Die Autoren geben eine Übersicht über die wichtigsten sozialen und medizinischen Kriterien der Vulnerabilität von Familien und diskutieren darauf die zu deren Bekämpfung zur Verfügung stehenden präventiven Massnahmen. Es scheint klar, dass diese sozialmedizinische Tätigkeit im Sinne einer Teamarbeit koordiniert werden muss: Eine besonders wichtige Rolle spielen dabei die Sozialarbeiterin und die Gesundheitsschwester. Doch sollten die Überlegungen noch weitergeführt werden: Die eigentliche Vorbeugung erfolgt durch eine Reform, in der die Gesellschaft besser an die grundlegenden Bedürfnisse des Individuums und der Familiengruppe angepasst wird.
