Samenvatting

Naast de vijf eerder genoemde Cuscuta-soorten,C. subinclusa Dur. etHilg.,C. americana L.,C. californica Choisy,C. campestris Yuncker enC. sandwichiana, gebezigd bij het overbrengen van virusziekten, is een nieuwe soort nl.Cuscuta australis R.Br. eveneens bruikbaar gebleken o.a. voor het overbrengen van „yellow-vein-banding” mozaiek bijAgeratum conyzoides en „witches' broom”-virus bijCrotalaria. C. australis blijkt goed te kunnen gedijen, zowel op kruidachtige als op heesterachtige planten; de bruikbaarheid voor het overbrengen van andere viren dient alsnog nagegaan te worden.

Summary

Transmission of yellow-vein-banding mosaic ofAgeratum conyzoides L. and of witches' broom virus ofCrotalaria byCuscuta australis R.Br. has been demonstrated.Cuscuta australis parasites various herbs and shrubs; its usefulness for transmission of other viruses is a subject of further investigation.
