Unsuitability of urethane anesthetized rats for testing potential β-adrenoreceptor blockers

Summary

Isoprenaline induced tachycardia in urethane, but not sodium barbital anesthetized rats depends upon resting heart rate values. This makes urethane anesthesia unsuitable for testing β-blockers.
