  13. Preliminary unpublished work was done to identify the location of the motor neurons innervating the plantar flexors of the hind limb. A small section of the right tibial nerve was removed proximal to the knee and spinal cord segments L4 to S1 inspected 4, 7, 10, 14 and 21 days post-operatively. Histological sections showed progressive chromatolysis of the motor neurons located in the somatic efferent portion of the ventral horn.
