Summary

Lemna minor L. was cultivated with 6 ppm H2S in atmospheric air. Compared to organisms in H2S-free air, it had a smaller but constant specific growth rate for 36 days. It showed a pronounced increase in sulfate concentration. H2S quickly reduced the sulfate uptake. The mechanism of regulation of sulfate uptake is discussed.
