Summary

This paper considers some practical aspects of the economic design of\(\bar X\)-charts. The effect of errors in the estimation of data parameters is studied. Attention is drawn to the three critical parameters on which a reliable optimum control plan depends. A suggestion is made to the method of estimation. The results are based on robustness investigations, and are suitable for application at the workshop level.
