L'analyse chromosomique ne fournit aucun critère permettant une distinction entreA. microps et les espèces voisinesA. sylvaticus etA. flavicollis. Mais, étant donné l'uniformité des conditions cytologiques dans le genreApodemus, cette constatation ne saurait être invoquée comme un argument infirmant le statut d'espèce indépendante d'A. microps.
