Abstract
The author reports his experience of surgical treatment of extensive metastatic involvement of the acetabulum and peri-acetabular bone. He describes an original technique of reconstruction of the peri-acetabular bone with the ipsilateral proximal femur. The classification of the lesions and biomechanical principles of the method of reconstruction are described and the surgical procedure is reported. The results and limitations of the method are discussed. The follow-up of 12 cases revealed no failures due to the technique and no infections. Early weight bearing was allowed at an average of two weeks after operation.
