Correction of abnormally high nipples after reduction mammaplasty

Abstract

One of the most common complications after reduction mammaplasty is the abnormally high location of the nipple. The deformity may appear immediately after surgery if there was faulty planning before or during surgery. Or it may appear a few months after surgery due to migration of the breast tissue downward as a result of gravity, leaving the relatively fixed nipples at a higher location. This is more pronounced in cases of giganitic breasts and in virginal hypertrophy of the breast. The purpose of this article is to describe an alternative technique for correction of the highly located nipple.
