Transactions of a hair-pulling symbiosis

Summary

A case of trichotillomania in an adolescent female is presented. The symptom occurred in the context of a mother-daughter relationship characterized by mutual dependence, ambivalence, and provocation. The transactions of this “Hair-Pulling Symbiosis” are described and analyzed.
