The rheological behaviour of keratin during the aging process

Summary

Wool fibres, previously wet out and conditioned to a constant relative humidity and temperature environment, exhibit viscoelastic properties which change with conditioning time. Aging wool is therefore not linear viscoelastic in the usual sense. However generalized linear superposition principles for strain and stress have been proposed in place of theBoltzmann principle and these have been shown to be consistent with the experimental results obtained.

Zusammenfassung

Nach Durchnetzung und Konditionierung bei konstanter relativer Feuchtigkeit und Temperatur zeigen Wollfasern viskoelastische Eigenschaften, die sich mit der Konditionierungsdauer ändern. Alternde Wolle ist daher nicht linear viskoelastisch im üblichen Sinne. Es wurden jedoch verallgemeinerte lineare Superpositionsprinzipien für Dehnung und Spannung an Stelle desBoltzmannschen Prinzips vorgeschlagen, und man hat gefunden, daß diese mit den Versuchsergebnissen in Übereinstimmung waren.
