Control of thyroid hormone therapy in nontoxic goiter by determination of TSH levels after TRH stimulation

Summary

Consecutive TRH stimulation tests were used in order to determine the thyroid hormone dose which effect-tively suppressed the TSH levels below normal values. This procedure provides a means for individual dosage and helps to avoid thyrotoxicosis factitia in nontoxic goiter patients undergoing thyroid hormone therapy.

Zusammenfassung

Die TRH-Belastung erlaubt, für die Schilddrüsenhormonbehandlung der blanden Struma die individuell verschieden hohe Dosis zu ermitteln, welche das TSH unter die Norm supprimiert und ohne Überdosierungserscheinungen die Struma verkleinert.
