Zusammenfassung
Hyperthyreotiker, Hypothyreotiker und Schilddrüsen-Gesunde erhielten intravenös eine therapeutisch unterschwellige Dosis von3H-g-Strophanthin bzw.3H-Digitoxin. Der zeitliche Verlauf der Serumradioaktivität und die renale Ausscheidung des radioaktiven Materials wurden quantitativ bestimmt.
1. Nach der Verabreichung von3H-g-Strophanthin oder3H-Digitoxin nahm die Serumradioaktivität bei den Hyperthyreotikern schneller als bei den Kontrollpatienten ab. Eine im Vergleich zu Schilddrüsen-Gesunden langsamere Abnahme der Serumradioaktivität wurde nach der Injektion von3H-g-Strophanthin bei den hypothyreotischen Patienten beobachtet.
2. Während einer Überfunktion der Schilddrüse war die Ausscheidung von3H-g-Strophanthin und3H-Digitoxin im Urin höher als bei den Kontrollpatienten. Hypothyreotiker schieden jedoch weniger radioaktives Material über die Niere aus.
3. Die therapeutische Behandlung der Schilddrüsenkrankheit normalisierte nicht nur die Schilddrüsenfunktion, sondern auch die Serumelimination und die renale Ausscheidung der radioaktiv markierten Herzglykoside und deren metabolische Abbauprodukte.
Summary
3H-ouabain or3H-digitoxin in therapeutically subthreshold doses were administered intravenously to control patients and to patients, suffering from either hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. Serum concentration and urinary excretion of radioactive material were determined quantitatively.
1. The disappearance of radioactivity from the serum after the administration of3H-ouabain or3H-digitoxin occurred more rapidly in patients suffering from hyperthyreoidism than in control patients. After administration of3H-ouabain serum radioactivity diminished more slowly during hypothyroidism than in control patients.
2. During hyperthyroidism the urinary excretion of3H-ouabain and3H-digitoxin was increased in comparison with that in control patients. During hypothyroidism the excretion was reduced.
3. Treatment of the disorders of the thyroid gland in such way that thyroid function was normalized also abolished the changes in serum elimination and urinary excretion of radioactive material in comparison with the control patients after the administration of3H-ouabain.
