Summary

The effect of insulin on glucose uptake and CO2 production by human adipose tissue has been studied in various experimental conditions.

Is has been shown that anesthesia modifies the behaviour to only a slight extent.

The glucose uptake on the part of the adipose tissue of various body regions has not shown significant differences.

The concentration of glucose in the pre-incubationmedium significantly influences glucose consumption during incubation.

Increase of the CO2 production on the part of human adipose tissue, under the influence of insulin, has been demonstrated using the manometric technique and glucose-1-C14.

This increase, however, reaches only slight values, sensibly inferior to those observed with adipose tissue in the rat.
