Channeling of α particles in anthracene, p-terphenyl, and lithium fluoride monocrystals

Abstract

Channeling of 8.79 MeV α particles in monocrystals of anthracene, p-terphenyl, and lithium fluoride was studied in transmission experiments atT=130 K. For LiF the measurements were performed at room temperature as well to show the temperature dependence of the transmitted particle spectra. Critical angles were measured for the [001] axis of anthracene, the [¯102] axis of p-terphenyl, and the three main axes of lithium fluoride.
