Critical currents in superfluid helium nearT _λ

Abstract

The temperature dependence of the critical heat currentQ _c in He II has been measured in the temperature region 3 · 10⁻⁵ (‡K)<T _λ−T<1.2 · 10⁻² (‡K). The result Q_c∫ (T _λ−T)^1.07±0.01is consistent with a divergent mutual friction nearT _λ proposed recently byAhlers.
