Vanadium ions in zinc oxide

  • Published:
Zeitschrift für Physik A Hadrons and nuclei

Abstract

Trace amounts of trivalent vanadium in zinc oxide single crystals can be converted into divalent ions by heating the samples in an atmosphere of zinc vapor. The ESR spectra of V2+ have been investigated at low temperature and the parameters of the spin-Hamiltonian were determined by making use of a computer program. The parameter values for V3+ have been refined. The ions are assumed to be at substitutional Zn2+ sites.
