Abstract
The energy spectrum of electrons transmitted through thin foils is obtained by the invariant imbedding technique. Strong influence of the threshold behavior of the inelastic cross section on the multiple collision process is emphasized. Comparison with experimental data shows that the developed theory gives an adequate description of the process of the electron penetration.
