Summary
Corrosion of metal implants used for internal fixation can cause a reactive inflammation of the bone which cannot be differentiated from bacterial osteomyelitis by clinical and radiological methods of examination. Post-traumatic abacterial osteomyelitis of this type may be of clinical importance and requires treatment consisting in the removal of the corroded implant and the adjacent metallotic tissue.
