Summary

Haemothorax and haemopneumothorax are very frequently seen after penetrating and blunt injuries to the thorax. Due to the large capacity of the pleural cavity for blood and air, the pathologic condition of the haemothorax is usually reflected indirectly in disturbances of the ventilatory and circulatory systems. The pathophysiology of these circumstances is shown, the diagnosis is discussed and the indications for the different methods of treatment (tapping, drainage, thoracotomy) are listed.

Zusammenfassung

Hämothorax und Hämopneumothorax sind sehr häufig nach penetrierenden und stumpfen Brustkorbverletzungen zu beobachten. Infolge des großen Fassungsvermögens der Brusthöhle für Blut und Luft tut sich der krankhafte Zustand des Mime thorax eher in Ventilations- und Kreislaufstörungen als indirekten Symptomen kund. Es wird die Pathophysiologie dieses Krankheitsbildes aufgezeigt, die Diagnostik diskutiert sowie die Indikation zu den Behandlungsverfahren wie Punktion, Drainage und Thorakotomie angegeben.
