Summary
Report on the treatment of goitres before surgery in the Chirurgische Universitätsklinik, Hamburg-Eppendorf. All are prepared with Endo-iodine according to the same protocol. In every case hyperthyroidism was reduced to a “euthyroid” condition and no post-operative thyrotoxic crises were observed. The effect of the iodine on the ultrastructure of the cells is discuβed on the basis of electron micrographs of the goitres.
