Résumé

La zone isoélectrique de la surface cellulaire deP. caudatum déterminée par les méthodes électrophorétiques a été établie dans les environs du pH=5,25. Elle correspond donc à la limite acide de l'optimum du mouvement progressif et de l'optimum chimiotropique. La suppression du galvanotropisme dans la zone isoélectrique et son renversement au-dessous de celle-ci sont observés seulement en tant que réponses momentanées jointes au chimiotropisme.

Summary

The isoelectric zone of the cell surface ofP. caudatum as determined by electrophoretic methods is found to correspond to a pH value ca. 5.25. It is equal to the acid limit of the optimum of progressive movement and of the chemotactic optimum. The abolishment of galvanotaxis in the isoelectric zone and its reversal below this pH value is observed only as a short temporary response connected with chemotaxis.
