Ruptures and perforations of the esophagus with special consideration of pathologic, clinical and therapeutic digerences

Summary

From 1955 to 1968 2 ruptures and 8 perforations of the esophagus were observed at the Surgical Clinic of the University of Cologne. A description of their pathology and clinical symptomatology is pointed out.

Moreover, a number of 181 ruptures and 445 perforations of the esophagus compiled from world literature are presented and discussed. The differences in etiology, clinical course, and pathology between the case-material collected from literature and our own experiences are emphasized and summarized giving essential hints for therapeutic measures.

Zusammenfassung

Zwei Rupturen und acht Perforationen der Speiseröhre, die wir im Zeitraum von 1955 bis 1968 an der Chirurgischen Univ.-Klinik Köln-Lindenthal beobachtet haben, werden auf ihre pathologisch-anatomischen und klinisch-symptomatologischen Besonderheiten hin geprüft und ausführlich dargestellt. Den Eigenbeobachtungen stehen 181 Rupturen und 445 Perforationen des Oesophagus aus dem Schrifttum gegenüber. Im Vergleich der Eigenbeobachtungen zum Schrifttum werden insbesondere die Unterschiede beider Verletzungsarten hinsichtlich der Ätiologie, des klinischen Verlaufes und der pathologischen Anatomie herausgearbeitet und tabellarisch zusammengefaßt, da sich daraus wesentliche Konsequenzen für die Therapie ableiten lassen.
