Zusammenfassung
-
1.
Summary
-
1.
The interstitial cells are not the last element of the nervous syncytium but they form the distal syncytium of the vegetative nervous system. The sympathetic ground plexus, the terminal reticulum, the system of the protoplasmic fibrils, and the syncytium of the interstitial cells are the same thing.
-
2.
The distal reticulum of the efferent paths of the vegetative nervous system is a syncytium consisting of neuroplasma and containing neurofibrillar differentiation-products.
-
3.
The syncytium of the interstitial cells is a primitive nervous element but, as an element of higher differentiation, it contains ganglion cells of type II according toDogiel. This syncytium forms the nervous pole of a plexiform synapsis by distance which, because of the specific qualities of its organization, uses a chemical mechanism for the transmission of stimulations.
-
4.
The function of the syncytium of the interstitial cells is not nervous in the proper sense. It rather extends to releasing a chemical transmitter substance into the spaces of the connective tissue. The stimulations affecting a certain point of the syncytium incite a reaction (release of the chemical transmitter substance) which extends to a larger or smaller limited area only. The reaction of the syncytium to stimulation is always localized.
-
5.
At the plexiform synapsis by distance, the release of the chemical transmitter substance incites reactions of the non-nervous elements. Their capacity to react depends on the alterations caused by the chemical transmitter substance and by the presence of various substances of local or general origin and effect.
-
6.
The efferent paths of the vegetative nervous system are formed by two different parts: one with a neuronal and another with a syncytical or reticular structure. The latter is the distal organ which the sympathetic and parasympathetic paths have in common. The last synapsis of both of these different paths is the plexiform synapsis by distance which, very probably, is adrenergic.
Résumé
-
1.
