Genetic algorithms and fictitious domain based approaches in shape optimization

Abstract

The aim of this paper is twofold: on the one hand to present a new method for the numerical realization of optimal shape design problems, called a fictitious domain approach and on the other hand to describe the use of a genetic type algorithm in the above mentioned approach.
