Summary
The effect of chloramphenicol, streptomycin, oxytetracycline and tetracycline on growth intensity and production of clavine alkaloids in submerged cultures ofClaviceps fusiformis W1 was studied. Chloramphenicol (70–275 μg/mL) is suitable for prevention of bacterial contaminations of saprophyticClaviceps cultures and has no negative effect on the magnitude and spectrum of alkaloid production.
