Summary
1,1-Diphenyl-1-silacyclopent-3-ene (I) has been polymerized by ring opening metathesis using tungsten hexachloride and either cyclopentene or cyclohexene as an initiator, with or without tetraphenyltin as a cocatalyst. The product polymer poly(1,1-diphenyl-1-sila-cis-pent-3-ene) (II) has been characterized by1H,13C, and29Si NMR and IR spectroscopy.
