Conclusions

The reaction of 4,6-dimethyl-2-pyrimidinyl phosphites with proton-containing nucieophilic reagents is due to the anhydride nature of the Cpry-O-P bond and proceeds with the formation of 4,6-dimethyl-1,2-dihydro-2-pyrimidone and the corresponding P(III) derivatives.
